Day 12: Back Into Business

It was a fairly eventful day. I began by publishing my daily progress update for the previous day (Day 11) and another featured blog (Perspective Change: I’m Going to Succeed at This).

Next, I edited the Homepage of my website to reflect a more optimistic vibe, as I had decided to do two days ago when I launched the site. Go big or go home, right?

I then started with Module 5 of the Freedom Affiliate Launch — Email List Foundations & Set Up.

I drafted my welcome emails with guidance from Jade and a touch of my own creativity, but I was blocked at two points in this process:

  1. Affiliate Links: These emails are supposed to contain affiliate links to the lead magnets/products I’m directing potential customers to, so that when someone makes a purchase after having opened that link, I’ll get a commission.

I’m going to begin with the Freedom Partner Program — the affiliate program offered by Jade & Kev for students of the Freedom Affiliate Launch.

Until yesterday, I was under. the impression that there was a 2-week countdown going on since the day I joined the Launch course, and if I purchased the partner program before it ended I would get access to a higher commission tier than if I crossed the deadline.

After looking into it again today, I found out that the deadline referred to commission tiers of the Accelerate and Money Magnet partner programs (upgrades to Launch), which are both significant investments and which I am in no mood to buy this early in my journey.

So now I’m waiting to purchase the Freedom Partner Program (the basic Launch version) until everything else is ready because it costs $97 a month, so every day that goes by after I buy it and before I actually launch my framework, I lose $3. I’m not completely used to the abundance mindset yet!

I’m going to complete all the non-blocking next steps in my setup and I’ll join the partner program and add my links right before I need my email campaign to go live.

  2. Testing my Emails: In the course, we’re using Aweber to set up our email lists, and in it, there’s a feature to test sending your email messages.

After I had drafted the content, I tried sending test emails to three different email accounts but did not receive any of them. I tried searching forums and troubleshooting on my own for a bit, before eventually reaching out to their tech support.

It turned out that my Aweber account was blocked and under review by their Best Practices team. I emailed them to ask what the issue was and if I could provide them any information to help speed up the process.

I didn’t hear back from them but received all my test emails a couple hours later, so I knew my account was active again.

Although the course hasn’t talked about this yet, I also searched whether a one-person business like affiliate marketing requires a business bank account, and I found out that it does.

I have a personal account with Revolut so I started setting up an account with their business tier first, but at the last step before activation, I found out that there were hefty fees on international payments. Since most of my transactions as an affiliate marketer would be international, this wasn't ideal.

I did a bit of research on other options, but I couldn’t find anything that I was happy with, so I decided to put it off until I get to the point in the course where I need to link my bank account somewhere.

(It’ll probably be when signing up for the Freedom Partner Program or when I earn my first commission with them. I doubt that I qualify as a business owner until I actually join an affiliate program in any case.)

Lastly, I began working on Module 6 — Funnel Foundations & Set Up.

I had enough time to get through the first couple of videos and set up a subdomain for my website, but the next part involves designing more web pages and I didn’t have the energy to begin with that today.

I can definitely see myself finishing up with my funnel setup tomorrow, and then it’s time to set up Instagram — I’m excited!
