Day 8: Building my Website

I only got a couple of hours to work today, and I spent it building the homepage of my website.

After 3 days of having procrastinated this, I picked a template and just started working on it.

I was drafting content on the go though, and I realized at a point that the brand image I was creating wasn’t the one that I particularly wanted. It was too broad. I was trying to be a little bit of everything.

I had made the decision that my brand would be about doing loads of things and letting my audience into a close-up of everything. And while that does resonate with my personality, I want to send my readers in a direction towards something I’m trying to promote at the time. I needed to find a balance between the monetary potential and talking only about who I am.

So, I scratched out what I’d written about my mantra being to always keep learning new things, and wrote a highlight on what I’m learning right now. And that’s affiliate marketing.

While I was somewhat more satisfied with the direction my personal brand was heading than an hour or two ago, I realized that this big need for creativity and careful content crafting was slowing me down. I had been speeding through the modules so far, but Module 4 - Build Your Website - humbled me.

But, as always, I’m still determined to put my head down and work through the course.
